Case 1: Windows 10 File History Not Working

This issue happens to users who were trying to use File History to backup files and folders to an external drive. Therefore, there are some methods you can do to fix it.
Method 1: Enable File History Service and Windows Search
- Type service in the search bar and hit Services to open it.
- Search for File History Service and Windows Search, double-click on them and change the Startup type to Automatic.
Method 2: Disable and Enable System Protection
The second thing you can try to fix Windows 10 backup failed is disable the system protection on your PC and enable it again.
- Navigate to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System protection.
- Select a drive and hit on Configure.
- Press on Disable system protection, and apply the change. After that, turn on system protection again.
2. Windows 10 Backup Not Backing up All Files
What if the Windows 10 only back up a half of the files? You can try to turn off the File History and turn it on again. Also, remove the folder from the included list and add it again.
When the problem persists, hit the Advanced setting on the File History and tick the Even logs for any errors.
